Couple of weeks ago, there was a time when authorities published that Bisalpur Dam has only left with water supply of not more than one month. If there hasn’t been proper rain then the cities receiving water supply from Bisalpur Dam may face problems. The delayed monsoon added more tension to the issue.
But we never know what has been awaiting for us. Monsoon arrived and arrived with a bang. Bisalpur Dam is almost full and might get overflowed in couple of days if it continues raining the same way.
Authorities have mentioned in their press release that the dam has now enough water to supply for the next 2 years which is a great news for Jaipurites.
The downstream of Banas river is also flowing high as water is getting released to it from dam. If dam gets overflowed, water shall be released over to Banas river and the same may cause problems to the people living around the river. Authorities have instructed to all nearby to shift away from the banks so that no casualties are caused. The officers are also inspecting the bridges and places where river passes by to ensure everything is under control if situation of overflow arises.
Bisalpur dam supplies water to two more cities Ajmer and Tonk and it now has enough water to supply all the three cities for 2 years which is infact a good news for all the citizens. We wish to receive such good rains every year so that the problem of water scarcity can be faced adequately.
