“Fear the woman that empowers other women”. well here’s to this artist’s indescribable power of creativity, that ‘je ne sais quoi’ that sets her apart. Meet Muskaan K. Kumbhat- Jaipur city’s favourite name in makeup; as she talks about the launch of her new website:  http://muskaank.com/

Q. First of all congratulations on the launch of your new website, it looks amazing.

A. (Fake sobs) thank you!

Q. So we see that all your posts talk about something called “the butterfly effect” tell us more about that.

A. So according to chaos theory, it is said that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly’s wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world.  It’s a very beautiful phenomenon if you understand the depth.

Q. What made you choose this as your theme for the website and your work?

A. I think for me, my career has been a lot about a series of pygmy steps. I’ve been through some very rough phases initially, when I felt like anything I did wasn’t important. I wasn’t important. And it took me a great deal of patience and courage to triumph over my setbacks and understand that making a small beginning is all that it takes. I think the butterfly effect explains my story just right.

Q. When did your real passion for makeup develop?

A. I was always very drawn to it. As a kid I would sit on my grandmothers dresser while she did her makeup and oh she was a pro even back then. She had a way of doing her eye makeup and her blush and all that; and it was gorgeous. She would wear big red bindis and deep lipsticks. And she would tell me about the various things she used and I would sneakily try putting her lipsticks. I think it all began from there.

Q. What do you think is your biggest strength as a makeup artist?

A. The fact that I’m actually a psycho artist before a makeup person. (Laughs) That let’s me be very bizarre with my ideas.  I think more like a painter, and so I’m never scared of taking risks at work.

Q. Muskaan, you have started very young and you have already made a name for yourself. How do you feel about it?

A. Oh there’s a long way to go. But I’m extremely overwhelmed with the response. It’s the best feeling in the world to see people talk about your work. You know you’re doing something right.

Q. What is the one piece of advice you would like to share with young girls who are set to take the plunge into the real world and start working?

A. See for all the people out there, the world can be a very scary place.…and it can shake the living daylights out of you. There will be so many people making you feel stupid, unintelligent and barely knee high. But if you’re just sure of what you’re doing and hold your ground with enough conviction, trust me you’ve won half the battle.

Muskaan’s creativity is a part of her aura.

And her new website almost seems like an extension of her personality. Check it out for all things beautiful: http://muskaank.com/
