My name is Laura, I am from Hamburg in Germany and am travelling India for 5 weeks. Jaipur has been my most favourite city so far. In comparison to Dehli, where I stayed the previous 2 weeks, I got the feeling that Jaipur has more character. It’s cleaner, the people are more friendly and the city itself has a lot of beautiful sights to see and explore.
The City Palace is an architectonic masterpiece with its beautifully painted doors. Especially the green door is my favourite one and I couldn’t stop taking pictures of it.
On another day I did the elephant ride up to Amber fort. I have never ridden an elephant before so it was an unique experience for me. The elephants are bigger than I thought, but feel so soft on their skin. The way up was a bit wobbly. I got shaken from one to another side and had so much fun.
Amber fort itself has blown my mind. Especially the Sheesh Mahal which looks like a sky with thousands and thousands of silver stars was magical. I wish I would have been the queen and able to sleep under this starry sky made out of diamanté.
Moreover I recommend taking a Tuk Tuk(Auto) and driving around the city to see all the most important monuments and buildings. I actually just wanted to go to Hawamahal, but the Tuk Tuk driver, Puba, offered me a good price to explore the city together with him. We spend almost the whole day and although his English was as good as my Hindi we had a fun time together.
