Amber Fort Jaipur

History– During ancient times, Amer was popular as thunder. Kachhwahas were the founder of Amer from the 11th to the 16th C after which the capital was moved from here to Jaipur. This beautiful magnificent fort was built by Raja Man Singh in 1592 AD while later on, Raja Jai Sigh I expanded and redesigned it. Raja Man Singh was one of the most trusted general of the Emperor Akbar. He was included among the ‘Navaratnas’, or the 9 (Nava) gems (Ratna) of the royal court By Akbar.
Building design – Beautiful Red sandstone and white marble has been used to construct Amber fort. The fort holds some grand eye catching structures like royal residence, corridors, temples, and much more. The beautiful Maota Lake adds charm to the place. There are four different entrance to the fort which are associated with four different paths. ‘Suraj Pol’ which is also known as Sun Gate is the prime entry to the fort which takes the tourists to the prime courtyard. The fact behind this path is that it faces towards east. To visit palace, this gate is the prime entry. Diwan-e-Aam is another popular hall of Amber fort. According to popular belief, this hall was used by the king to listen and solve the queries of general people. Another hall ‘Diwan e-Khaas’ was used by the king for meeting with special guests from other places. Opposite to ‘Diwan e-Khaas’ lies another hall, Sukh Niwaas. The king used to spend some quality time with the queens and mistresses here.
Another famous courtyard is ‘Jalebi Chowk’. The most magnificant part of the fort is ‘Sheesh Mehel’ which is also known as Mirror Palace. The famous song ‘Jab Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya’ of the Bollywood film ‘Mughal-E-Azam’ was shot here. The reason behind making this place with mirror is that the during ancient times, the queens were not permitted to sleep in open air but the queen’s desire to see shining stars made the king build this palace with mirrors. The beauty of this palace lies in the fact that if somebody burns two candles here, this small light will be converted into a million stars due to the mirror reflection. A fresco carved out of marble, Magic Flower is also popular attraction of the place. The shade of the place changes after the sun set which makes it more eye catching. In the night also the fort lightens up with cute embellishing lights.
