The Rajasthan government on Wednesday announced a ban on pan masala and tobacco in the state on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. According to an official statement, Rajasthan has become the third state in the country after Maharashtra, Bihar where there is a complete ban on these products.
The state government has announced a ban on the production, storage, distribution and sale of pan masala and flavored betel nut containing magnesium carbonate, nicotine, tobacco or mineral oil. Medical and Health Minister Dr. Raghu Sharma said that this important step has been taken to prevent addiction among youth. These substances will be confirmed by the State Central Public Health Laboratory Rajasthan.
Sharma said that there would be a complete ban on all such products under the Food Safety Act. He said that by controlling the sale of such inferior materials, strict action on the sale of stolen goods is being chalked out to prevent them completely. Earlier, the government had also banned e-cigarettes and hookah bars.
