The beautiful city of Jaipur popularly known as the Pink City has been awarded the title of World Heritage Site by UNESCO at their committee’s meet at Baki, Azerbaijan. UNESCO has shared this info on their twitter handle and tweeted “Just inscribed as @UNESCO #WorldHeritage Site: Jaipur City in Rajasthan, #India. Bravo,”
PM Modi has also hailed the announcement which welcomes Jaipur into the list of World Heritage Cities stating that Jaipur has always attracted everyone with its unique blend of architecture and vibrant culture. He tweeted “Jaipur is a city associated with culture and valour. Elegant and energetic, Jaipur’s hospitality draws people from all over. Glad that this city has been inscribed as a World Heritage Site by @UNESCO,”
The walled city of Jaipur was founded in 1727 AD by Sawai Jai Singh II and is culturally rich capital city of Rajasthan. In town planning, Jaipur shows an interchange of ancient Hindu, Mughal and contemporary Western ideas that resulted in the formation of this city.
